Grow Yourself and Your Goals

An often overlooked priority is growing ourselves as human beings. This can be in terms of professional development, personal development, challenging our narrative, spiritual development, or getting over a mental block. Examples of this could be attending a conference, physical exercise, and other activities. It can even be improving our habits or setting new goals. At some point or another, we fall into a routine that is comfortable. If you are not conscious, then personal growth can be overlooked or even ignored. If you want an amazing life, then personal growth needs to be a priority.

One issue is that when you become busy and overwhelmed with other priorities, personal growth can be the easiest to put off. It’s easy to say, “I can’t go the gym because my kids need me,” or “I have no time to read because I am on a deadline.” Other examples of growth can be meditation, attending religious services, basically anything that indirectly helps you achieve your goals. While you grow your life, you must also grow your mind, body, and spirit.

When growing ourselves, there are activities that are obvious, such as skill development and having more discipline. However, there are activities that are not so obvious. For example, when you get the proper amount of sleep, it is not only for the body. Sleep actually allows you to organize your thoughts. When we don’t get the proper amount of sleep, our body thinks that it is under attack. Another example is using more positive language both when we talk to others.

When we express gratitude, it forces us to focus on the positive rather than the negative. It’s so easy for me to think about what I can’t do. If I focus on that rather than the blessings in my life, then I will be in tears all day.
