Two Part of Success
There are two parts of success. The first part is emotional, and the second part is the actionable process of getting there.
The first part is the dream, and the emotion attached to the dream.
We all have experiences that we want to live out, and we have unique reasons why we want to achieve our goals. We want to have unique experiences. We want freedom, fun. We want to travel. We want to help the people that we love. We want spiritual experiences. All we want is a great life.
A great life begins with wanting a great life. I know how that sounds. It sounds like a statement by a second grader, but it’s actually by a goofball who’s trying to live a great life. Every day I wonder what makes an amazing life amazing. Wanting it, I mean, really wanting it is a key, not the key, but the first key, to unlock the first of many doors. I spend a lot of time daydreaming of a great life.
Don’t get too excited. It’s not all about the dream, it’s about executing on the steps needed to get there. It’s about promoting the activities that will get you to your goals. It’s about many hours of work. It’s about figuring out the process of getting what you want at life. It’s not going to fall on your lap. As a guy who sits all day, trust me, nothing ever falls in your lap, except for crumbs.
The process is going to get what you want out of life. You must spend time everyday figuring out what the right steps are, and executing on those steps, and re-evaluating whether or not those steps are the right ones. It’s also about doing it over and over again until you achieve the life that you want. You have to do it over and over again. Making it a lifestyle.
I’m always learning about the steps that I need to get where I want to go. Everything in my life is a little bit harder, takes a little bit more time, takes more money, and so on. My commitment to myself is to do whatever it takes to get there.
I daydream. I think about the steps that I need to do to make my dreams come true. I execute on those steps, and I don’t see myself slowing down anytime soon.
Start by defining what you want. What you really, really want (to quote the Spice Girls). Write down the steps that you need to get there, and execute your butt off on those steps. If the steps are not bringing you closer to your goals, change your steps. Once you execute your goals, enjoy it, but create new ones.
