We Teach Mindset for a Living. Here's What We Actually Believe.

Mindset Is the Great Equalizer — And I'd Know

I've been in a wheelchair my entire life. Not because of anything I did, and not because of anything that was going to happen anyway — because of a doctor's negligence. I have cerebral palsy, which in plain terms means my brain and my body don't communicate very well. I need an interpreter to be understood. I need help with things most people never think about.

For a long time, I understood my disability as a subtraction problem. It robbed me of experiences. There was a list of things people get to do in a life, and mine was simply shorter. That's not self-pity — it's just arithmetic, and for years it felt like arithmetic I couldn't argue with.

What changed wasn't my body. It was how I decided to think about the list.

Mindset is the one thing my disability can't touch

There are so many areas of my life that my disability taints. It affects how I travel, how I'm perceived in a room, how long a simple task takes. But mindset — the way I go after goals, deal with challenges, interact with people, and go about my day — is the great equalizer. It's the one arena where I'm not at a disadvantage. And here's the part worth sitting with: it's the same arena you're standing in.

That's why my motivation isn't abstract. It's a mission to have as many experiences as I possibly can, and to build the ones that weren't handed to me. Raising kids. Vegas trips. Long dinners with friends that run past the point of being comfortable. Writing. Speaking. Coaching. Learning AI. None of it fell into my lap. All of it was fought for.

The uncomfortable part nobody talks about

Here's something I've been chewing on lately: the human brain is not designed for modern-day success. It's a protection machine. It's constantly scanning for what could go wrong instead of orienting you toward what could go right. That instinct kept our ancestors alive. Today, it mostly keeps people small.

Which is another reason mindset matters so much. Building an amazing mindset isn't about positive thinking or repeating affirmations at a mirror. It's about actively fighting your own tendency toward safety and comfort — every day, on purpose.

Chris and I sat down for a full conversation about all of this — where my motivation actually comes from, the three areas I focus on that most people skip entirely, and why the fight against your own wiring is the real work of personal development.

If you're new to what we do, this is the place to start. There's a life waiting for you. It will not fall into your lap.
