The Art of Re-Learning

blog Aug 23, 2018
I am an avid reader. I also take online classes, watch instructional videos on YouTube and attend conferences. I focus on two areas of learning. The first is personal development. Since I write, teach and coach on the area, I feel that it is my obligation to learn everything I can, as it helps me to look at different perspectives and disseminate my own information with more backing.
The second area is marketing. A big part of my business is the marketing of the products that are created. There are methodologies that I’ve adopted into my own quest to grow my company. These include landing pages, sales processes and many more integral parts of my business. Some are really technical. Some are tedious. And, some include many steps. I’m always researching different methodologies and making my process as efficient as possible. I work with a couple of experts who elevate my marketing beyond anything I can do on my own.
I have several books that I read over and over again...

Don’t Let Your Habits Become Suggestions

blog Aug 17, 2018
When people want more out of life, they set goals. For awhile, they may hit the gym or order salad. They may wake up a half hour earlier, communicate better or stop buying unnecessary stuff. Changing habits is an integral part of achieving success.
When we have goals, it’s exciting to think about all the possibilities that achieving will bring to our lives. We think about all that can happen or how our lives will be better. At least for a brief time, we don’t mind sacrificing for our goals. We don’t mind waking up earlier, working harder or eating that kale salad instead of the midnight snack. We might even convince ourselves that kale is good raw. Mmm… kale. I bet those combination of words rarely came out of people’s mouth.
As time goes on, however, that excitement wears off and that salad becomes a stupid kale salad. That work out that you were so excited about becomes the last thing that you want to do. Everything that excites you about your...

Are you obsessed?

blog Aug 09, 2018
Two years ago, I had an idea to develop products online. I wrote a plan and presented it to my team. I was aware of every single step; however, it took me three times longer to complete than I was planning. At the beginning of the year, I was on the last step, which was to generate online traffic. I knew that I wanted to outsource the task. Yet, I wanted to learn every aspect, so I could give my input.
I had a few stumbling blocks along the way. It took me longer to find a CRM Manager than I thought. I had a couple of people who did not perform; however, I felt that I was close to finding the right teammate.
A few weeks ago, I went to Vegas with the family and just had a great time. I took the kids to Circus Circus, had a wonderful date with my wife and snuck away to gamble and have a few cocktails.
When I got back, I was determined to find the right team member. The past was the past. I know that with the right team member, we can do amazing things. While I was gone, I had...

Dealing With What Gets In Your Way

blog Aug 01, 2018
Last week, I talked about a pesky little issue with my iPhone, which I solved in 90 seconds. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could solve all our problems in 90 seconds?
What gets in the way of an amazing life are obstacles, limitations, mental blocks, etc. The list can be endless. In the post, I wrote about how I did not take action right away and let the problem linger. How often do we let problems linger? Many people don’t even look at what is holding them back and have the attitude of “it is what it is.” This attitude can be one of the most limiting factors to your amazing success.
A critical factor to achieving amazing success is the way we engage our problems. Every year, I learn about how my disability and its psychological ramifications affect my goals and my dreams.
In addition to my physical challenges, I deal with insecurities, the stresses of leading a team, and focus, to name a few. This year, I am really focused on looking at and navigating what...

Dealing With Problems In The Right Way

blog Jul 27, 2018
For about ten days, I was not hearing texts come in on my iPhone. I would look at my iPhone and realize that I had missed a text. For ten days, I wondered what was wrong. I had my wife, Leslie, look at it and she could not figure it out. Every time I missed a text it was annoying me. Finally, I went to my computer and typed in iPhone text no sound. Within a minute, I found a solution. I asked Leslie to text me. And, boom, I heard the sound.
The solution took fewer than 90 seconds.
Part of reaching amazing success is the way that you deal with problems. After all, success is dealing with problems in a positive way to get what we want. I wanted my iPhone to ring and not miss a text.
There are limitations, roadblocks, challenges and psychological blocks that have an impact on how amazing we can become. However, what separates amazing people is their willingness to deal with whatever gets in the way. Amazing people look at challenges, not as something that holds...

How Do You Get Away?

blog Jul 19, 2018

I have been working diligently, as I always do, but this a great opportunity to recharge. When I go on vacation, I don’t 100% disconnect. Instead, I get inspired. I think about what I am going to write next. I think about the next steps that I need to take. When I am on vacation, I sneak off for a drive by myself. When I go to Vegas, I do a little gambling and have fun. I don’t see a vacation as an opportunity just to get away. I see it as an opportunity to reconnect with my dreams.

My regimen is not rigid. My priorities are whatever my family wants to do. Whether it’s going to the pool, going shopping or wherever the kids drag us, I go with the flow. If my mind wanders towards work or writing or strategizing, I let it. Whenever I get back from a trip, I’m ready to go.

Since it’s laborious to set up my laptop, plug in the keyboard, etc., I just don’t do it. I clean out my junk emails on my phone and if I feel like checking in with my manager,...

Are You Consistently Checking In?

blog Jul 16, 2018

Human beings are creatures of habit. It’s easy to get comfortable with a routine and just go with it. If people check-in with their goals, it’s usually around the holidays, especially the New Year. A key to amazing success is incremental and constant improvement. In order to improve, we must be constantly checking in with our goals and avoid complacency. Some goals need daily check-ins. Some goals need weekly, monthly or quarterly check-ins. Here is a list of actions that we need in order to properly check into our goals. One big caveat, we don’t want to overly check-in with our goals. We want to avoid chasing the shiny new object. Most goals need patience and time to become reality.

1. Engagement. As stated above, it is easy to become complacent with our goals. We must be engaged and remind ourselves why our goals are so important to us. We have to ask ourselves why it is so important to achieve our goals. Remind yourself of this when you are feeling lazy or...

Are you worried about conventional wisdom?

blog Jul 05, 2018

When I was younger, I watched my parents hustle their way to a comfortable life. I grew up in the ‘80s and the ‘90s. When I went to business school at USC, hard work was assumed. That way of thinking scared me a little. The reason that it scared me was not because I was not willing to do the hard work. It was because my disability got in the way of hustle and other factors that I assumed I needed to achieve amazing success.

As I started learning about success and I started creating my career, there were activities that my disability made exponentially more challenging or impossible. Although I was scared, I was up for the challenge.

Over the last few years, I have been looking at what makes people successful and what people do wrong. This year I came to a conclusion that, in order to become amazing and make a dream come true, we have to have a well-balanced life.

Instead of hustling all of the time, take time to think. I am rereading Experts Secrets by Russell Brunson....

Be Disciplined

blog Jun 18, 2018

Distractions play a part in how well you execute on the four buckets of activities: professional, personal, growth and miscellaneous.  Every day we face more and more distractions.  Our friends, our phones, social media, competing projects, and other shiny objects get in the way of productivity.  It takes discipline to work on the activities that move us forward.  Instead of being seduced by distractions, you need to focus activities that drive you in the direction of your goals.

Saying you have priorities and saying that you have discipline is not enough.  Your actions must be consistent with your words. Our true priorities are dictated by our time, by our dollars and by our attention. In order to become amazing, you need to focus your time and actually put your priorities on a calendar and commit to your actions without distractions.  In your priorities, what are the tasks that you need to produce?  Commit the time by putting it on a calendar....

Activities That Lead To An Amazing Life

blog Jun 18, 2018

There are four main buckets of activities that can lead to an amazing life. The way that you approach these buckets can empower you. They are: professional, personal, growth, and miscellaneous.

Whether you are an entrepreneur or you have a 9-to-5 job, the better that you execute the task, the more likely you are to grow and excel. What are the key projects that you need to execute?

We all have friends and family who require our love and attention. We need to put time and energy into these relationships in order for them to grow. The better we interact with our friends and loved ones, the more that we can enjoy them. Personal relationships are one of the most precious assets that we, as human beings, have.

If we don’t grow ourselves as human beings, we will never achieve our potential and the amazing life that we desire. This may include reading books, working on our psychological barriers, working on our limitations, dreaming and, even, sleeping....
